Of the four EG.QuakeLive players in the Intel Extreme Masters: American Championships, Tim 'DaHanG' Fogarty has clinched an attempt for first place in the Grand Final and Chance 'chance' Lacina is in a bid for 3rd in the 3rd place run-off match.
After a quick and painless 3-0 routing of compLexity's newest recruit, Sander 'Vo0' Kaasjager, DaHanG has ensured himself a Top 2 podium finish by making it into the Grand Final without dropping a single map throughout his entire run from Group B (where DaHanG had taken a 3-0 victory over SK's Shane 'rapha' Hendrixson) to the end of the bracket.
On the other side of the Bracket, chance battled rapha until the bitter end of a BO5, first barely losing dm13 before battling back and winning tourney7 with a one frag lead and staying mobile. Before chance could build up much momentum, rapha pulled a page from chance's playbook on tourney7 and maintained a 2 frag lead on dm6 before dying once more at the feet of the red armor, still taking the match in his favor. Things looked hopeful for an EG final on tourney9 as chance punished rapha 14-5, but finally fell on ztn due to aggressive play and just generally being victim to rapha's highly accurate arsenal that looked much more like the rapha form we've all come to know and fear.
Despite the fact that many had predicted him to be the weak link of Group A, chance had put up a great run and has earned himself a spot in the 3rd place runoff match against Vo0 tomorrow at 2:20pm EST / 11:00am PST. DaHanG and rapha will meet up for their Grand Final battle an hour later, at 3:20pm EST / Noon PST. Make sure to head over to the Predictions section for a chance to earn from EG points, and lets hope for an EG finish on the podium!
